Glen Eira Leisure recommends you read the below summary of changes to our services to ensure you have a safe and enjoyable visit.


In line with the Government guidelines, most of our current COVID Safe settings remain, including being fully vaccinated to enter the facility. Mask wearing is no longer mandatory indoors, but will be encouraged when you can’t socially distance.

All our services, facilities and programs are back to normal, with these requirements:

  • Fully vaccinated environment for anyone aged over 12 years and 2 months: Access to any GEL facilities will be in line with the guidelines set out by the Victorian Government. Under these guidelines, every person in the facility must be fully vaccinated (anyone aged over 12 years and 2 months, unless a medical exemption applies),
  • Check-in still required at entry: All members, staff and visitors must check in every time you enter the facility, and display evidence of check in and vaccination status.
  • Density quotients removed: We will be back to normal capacity in our Spa, Sauna and Steam Room.

We remind you that GEL is operating under Government requirements.


The biggest change under Phase D of the National Plan is that vaccination requirements will apply from the age of 12 years and 2 months, unless a medical exemption applies.

This means anyone aged above 12 years and 2 months needs to show us evidence of their vaccination status prior to entering any GEL facilities.

If your child is aged 12-15 years, they must have their own evidence of vaccination.

The ways you can show COVID-19 proof of vaccination to gain entry to businesses and venues in Victoria:

  • COVID-19 digital certificate via the Service Victoria app
  • COVID-19 digital certificate saved to a smartphone wallet
  • Printed copy of COVID-19 digital certificate – with supporting photo ID
  • Printed copy of immunisation history statement – with supporting photo ID

Reminders when visiting during opening hours.

  • You must scan in using the State Government QR Code provided at the entry
  • You must provide your vaccine passport to the GEL Staff member before entering the facilities.
  • Approved exemptions must be shown on your Medicare or Victoria services application as an approved exemption from the Australian Immunisation Register.
  • Please be polite and respectful with staff and other patrons, abusive and antisocial behaviour will not be tolerated.
  • As a courtesy to other users, please limit your recreation swimming after attending your swim lesson to no more than one hour.

GEL Swim School (GELSS)
We will be re-opening the Swim School in a staggered return as follows:

  • Levels 1 to 4 (Platypus, Sea Turtle, Orca, Polar Bear) 
    Recommencing the week beginning Monday 8 November
  • Infants (Stingray, Sea Horse)
    Levels 5 to 9 (Seal, Crocodile, Penguin, Dugong, Dolphin)
    Recommence the week beginning Monday 15 November
  • Complimentary swimming to commence from Saturday 30 October for all currently enrolled members

All memberships will automatically be reactivated and billing will begin from your first lesson back.

You will receive an SMS notification closer to your lesson advising your class details. 


Water Slides and Inflatable Closed

Waterslide and inflatable remains closed and will be constantly reviewed with the intent to reopen as soon as possible.

Capacity Limits - Practice Social Distancing

​It is important to practice social distancing of 1.5 metres. If an area or the facility reaches capacity, the lock out procedure will be followed. Please follow floor markings and follow any directions from Glen Eira Leisure staff. Each area is signed with a maximum number of patrons.

Lost Property

Unclaimed items will be held for 7 days. If we consider an item to be of significant value, like a wallet or a phone, it will be held for a limited time before it is handed over to authorities.

To avoid disappointment please take care of your personal belongings. Glen Eira Leisure does not accept responsibility for loss or damage to any personal belongings, regardless of the value.

COVID -19 Register/ QR code Check In Prior to Entry

Prior to entry, completion of the COVID-19 Register is required via our QR Code or COVID-19 check-in through the Government app. Please allow additional time for your visit to complete your check in.


Masks are not required in the Centres, but we recommend wearing them if you are unable to physically distance. 

No Shared Swimming and Gym Equipment

Swimming Equipment such as kickboards, noodles and pull buoys are not available for loan due to health reasons. Please bring your own if you require it to swim. The retail store is open.
Gym equipment such as mats, bolsters, yoga blocks and yoga straps are not available. Please bring your own equipment and mats for yoga and stretching. Please bring your own boxing gloves for boxing classes. 

Healthy Hygiene Habits

Additional sanitiser stations are available throughout the facilities, additional cleaning is scheduled, and we remind patrons to wash hands before your workout, wipe down equipment after use and continue healthy hygiene habits.

We understand that these are stressful times for all members of our community, however we must ensure that our facilities are a safe and an enjoyable place for all members, guests and staff.
We acknowledge that rules have had to change to accommodate COVID-19 safety measures and this has placed pressure on access to certain areas of our facility.
We ask that everyone follows the direction of staff when in our facilities and that staff and fellow patrons are always treated with respect .
