TRX Mountain Climbers

The Mountain Climber is a full-body exercise - your hands to your feet are working to some degree. In particular, the muscles around your shoulders must work to keep your joints stable while the hip flexors drive your legs.

How to perform this exercise

This exercise is an advanced variation of a standard Plank. Your core must brace and keep your spine stable while your legs are moving instead of simply holding a stationary position.

Step 1

Set the TRX straps to mid-calf length, placing your feet in the TRX straps.

Step 2

Start in a push-up position, with your hands under your shoulders, alternate legs pulling your knees up towards your chest.

Important things to note:

  • If new to this exercise, start with slow controlled movements
  • Try to keep hips as level as possible throughout the movement, no bouncing
  • Engage your core
