Changing Places Facilities at Carnegie 

What Are They?

Changing Places are high-support accessible bathrooms designed for people with complex needs. They include:  

  • Height-adjustable adult-sized change table  
  • Ceiling track hoist system  
  • Peninsula toilet  
  • Extra circulation space  
  • Automatic door (minimum 950mm opening)  
  • Privacy screen  

Who Can Use Them?

  • People with significant physical or intellectual disabilities  
  • Individuals with complex medical needs  
  • Carers supporting someone who requires a hoist or change table  

Where Can I Find Them?

  • Carnegie Memorial Swimming Pool  
  • Note: Changing Places facilities require MLAK key access.

Accessible Change Rooms at GESAC

GESAC offers highly accessible facilities, including:

  • Ramp, beach and pool hoist to access all pools
  • Accessible changerooms with overhead hoist facilities
  • Elevator access to the first floor

Inductions required 

To use our accessible change facilities with roof hoist you will need to be inducted please follow the step by step guide below. See instruction below for your returning visit.

New Inductions Guide

If you are new to our facility and require use of a motorized roof hoist & change table, you will need to do the following: 

1. Approach our reception staff, and inquire about the use of the specialised accessible change room facilities.  

2. A Centre Supervisor will come out and induct you (Tour of facility; how to use specialised equipment within the space etc.) 

3. Once inducted, you’re details will remain in the system and the Centre Supervisor will hand you a key for the duration of your visit.  

4. Once your visit is completed, you need to return the key to the front reception desk, so you will be signed out. 

Return Visit Guide

1. Approach our reception staff, and inquire about the use of the specialised accessible change room facilities.  

2. State that you are a returning visitor, and you have used the facilities before.  

3. The reception staff member will be able to sign you in in the system, and assign a key to you for the duration of your visit.  

4. Once your visit is completed, you need to return the key to the front reception desk, so you will be signed out.
