Caulfield Recreation Centre Operational Review
We are pleased to share an update following Council's recent adoption of the Caulfield Recreation Centre (CRC) Operational Review.
The review recognised CRC as a highly valued part of Glen Eira's leisure network, supported by strong member participation, high customer satisfaction and a loyal and engaged community.
Importantly, CRC is not closing, and no redevelopment has been approved.
Instead, Council has endorsed a staged approach focused on optimising the Centre's services and operations within the existing facility. This approach aims to build on the strengths our members already value while ensuring CRC continues to meet the needs of the community into the future.
What Was the Purpose of the Review?
The Operational Review was undertaken to understand how CRC is performing today and identify opportunities to enhance the member experience.
While the Centre continues to perform strongly, the review identified opportunities to improve accessibility, operating hours, program capacity, equipment and amenities, helping CRC remain a welcoming, inclusive and sustainable community facility.
What Does Optimisation Mean?
Optimisation means making practical improvements to services, facilities and operations within the existing Centre.
Over the coming 18 to 24 months, areas that may be explored include:
- Reviewing operating hours to better align with community demand
- Expanding Group Fitness and Reformer Pilates capacity where feasible
- Strengthening services for key community groups, including older adults, while remaining inclusive for all members
- Improving the use of existing spaces and exploring complementary spaces where appropriate
- Upgrading equipment and amenities within available funding allocations
- Reviewing operational practices to support efficient, high-quality service delivery
- Monitoring participation, utilisation and member satisfaction to help inform future improvements
This staged approach allows improvements to be carefully planned, implemented and evaluated over time.
